Posted by: admin (Jan 15)
Here's how to disable / enable the task manager for Windows NT/2000/XP:

Hive: HKEY_CURRENT_USER
Key: SoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionPoliciesSystem
Name: DisableTaskMgr
Type: REG_DWORD
Value: 1 = Enable this value disables TaskManager
Value: 0 = Disable this value enables the TaskManager

The changes should be made using the regedit tool, or for editing the system registry windows, here's how:

  • Click Start
  • Click Run
  • Type gpedit.msc in InputBox
  • In the Group Policy settings entry window
    • Select User Configuration
    • Select Administrative Templates
    • Select System
    • Select Ctrl + Alt + Delete options
    • Select Remove Task Manager
    • Double Click on Remove Task Manager option
