Here's how to disable / enable the task manager for Windows NT/2000/XP:
Hive: HKEY_CURRENT_USER
Key: SoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionPoliciesSystem
Name: DisableTaskMgr
Type: REG_DWORD
Value: 1 = Enable this value disables TaskManager
Value: 0 = Disable this value enables the TaskManager
The changes should be made using the regedit tool, or for editing the system registry windows, here's how:
- Click Start
- Click Run
- Type gpedit.msc in InputBox
- In the Group Policy settings entry window
- Select User Configuration
- Select Administrative Templates
- Select System
- Select Ctrl + Alt + Delete options
- Select Remove Task Manager
- Double Click on Remove Task Manager option
