nano editor, keyboard shortcuts and alternatives

The notation for shortcuts is as follows. The sequences identified by the symbol (^) are introduced using the Control key (Ctrl) key or pressing the Esc key twice. The sequences identified by the symbol Meta (M) can be entered using either the Esc, Alt or Meta, depending on the configuration of the keyboard. Also, pressing Esc twice and then typing the numbers from 000 to 255 will enter the character with the ASCII code. The following abbreviations are available in the main editor window. Alternative keys are shown in parentheses:

^ G (F1) Display this help message
^ X (F2) Close the current file / Exit from nano
^ O (F3) Save the current file to disk
^ J (F4) Justify the current paragraph

^ R (F5) Insert another file into the current
^ W (F6) Search for a string or regular expression
^ Y (F7) Go to the previous screen
^ V (F8) Go to the next screen

^ K (F9) Cut the current line and store it in cutbuffer
^ U (F10) cutbuffer Paste in the current row
^ C (F11) Display the cursor position
^ T (F12) Invoke the spell checker, if available

M-\ (M-|) Go to the first line of the file
-M / (M-?) Go to the last line of the file

^ _ (F13) (MG) should be a line number and column
^ \ (F14) (MR) Replace a string or regular expression
^ ^ (F15) (MA) Mark text at the cursor position
MW (F16) Repeat the last search

M-^ (M-6) Copy the current line and store it in cutbuffer
Apply M-indentation to the current row}
M-{Removes indentation from the current row
^ F forward one character
^ B Decreases the character
^ Space forward one word
Decreases the M-Space of a word
^ P Move to previous line
^ N go to next line

^ A to the beginning of the current row
^ E Move to end of line
M-((M-9) to the beginning of the paragraph, then the previous paragraph
M-) (M-0) goes to the end of the paragraph, then the next paragraph
M-] Go to matching bracket
M-(M-_) Scroll up one line without moving the cursor
M-+ (M-=) Scroll down one line without moving the cursor
M-<(M-,) goes to the previous buffer
M-> (M-.) Go to the next buffer

MV Inserts a character literally
^ I Insert a tab at the cursor position
^ M Inserts a carriage return at the cursor position
^ D Delete the character under the cursor
^ H Delete the character to the left
MT Cut from cursor to end of file

MJ Justify the entire file
MD Count the number of words, lines and characters
^ L Refresh the current screen
^ Z Suspend the editor (if the suspension is enabled)

(MX) Command bar toggles
(MC) Constantly show cursor position toggles
(MO) Use one more line for the changes to enable / disable
(MS) continuously scrolling toggles
(MP) Display white space toggles
(MY) syntax highlight toggles
(MH) Smart Start button toggles
(MI) Auto Indentation enables / disables
(MK) Cut to end of line toggles
(ML) Wrap toggles
(MQ) Converting tabs to spaces enable / disable
(MB) File Backup enables / disables
(MF) Multiple files enable / disable
(MM) Mouse Support enable / disable
(MN) No conversion from DOS / Mac toggles
(MZ) Suspension toggles
(M-$) Return soft toggles
