To expand a virtual disk for vmware server you can type the command (of course after Stoppato the virtual machine and having done a backup prior):
vmware-vdiskmanager-x 10GB virtual_disk.vmdk
It 'necessary to take into account that in some cases, as in the presence of a system with windows boot partition, you need to resize the partition with a tool such as gparted.
